    Six Senses Douro Valley is a restored nineteenth-century quinta on a hillside above the Douro, with terraced vineyards falling to the river, a spa built around wine and the valley's quintas within reach by boat or car. QL House books it as a preferred partner, at the published rate with benefits added.

    The manor house keeps its tiled façade and its views; the newer wings and the Quinta Villas sit lower on the slope among the vines. Rooms look either down the valley or over the river, and the outdoor pool is placed where the morning mist burns off first. The estate grows its own produce and the kitchen garden feeds the restaurant.

    The spa is the reason many guests come: a wine-based treatment programme, an indoor pool, a sleep clinic and the alchemy bar where guests blend their own oils. Vale de Abraão restaurant works from the garden and the river; the wine library runs through the valley's producers with a sommelier on hand.
