Badrutt's Palace Hotel has stood above Lake St. Moritz since 1896 and remains the address of the Engadin winter season: a turreted palace with lake-facing suites, Andreas Caminada's two-starred IGNIV, the King's Social House and a private ski butler. The Palace is still owned by the Badrutt family's successors and run as a grand hotel in the original sense: a hall with a fire burning all day, the Renaissance Bar for the evening, a wellness wing cut into the rock beneath the building with a pool that looks across the frozen lake. Rooms range from compact alpine doubles to the Hans Badrutt Suite, the one with the tower.
IGNIV by Andreas Caminada holds two Michelin stars and runs a sharing menu that the valley talks about; Le Restaurant is the formal dining room; Chesa Veglia, the hotel's 1658 farmhouse across the road, is where the Engadin eats pizza after skiing. King's Social House is the nightclub, open from Christmas to the end of the season.
