Art Basel Miami Beach 2026 runs from 4 to 6 December 2026 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, with invitation-only access beginning 2 December. The fair shows around 280 galleries from more than 40 countries and is the largest contemporary art fair in the Americas.
The preview days at the start of the week are invitation-only and are when most serious buying happens. Invitations come either from a gallery the collector already buys with or through Art Basel's own VIP programme; they are not sold publicly. Public tickets cover the three public days.
Around the fair, Miami Art Week fills the city: satellite fairs, Design District gallery openings, private collection visits, brand activations and dinners. For many visitors this is the larger part of the trip.
Where to stay: Mid-Beach and South of Fifth on Miami Beach are closest to the Convention Center and to the week's private dinners, with the tightest inventory of the year. The Design District and Edgewater suit the gallery calendar and are calmer, 20 to 30 minutes from the fair. Brickell and Downtown offer newer hotel stock and better late availability.
Booking window: six to nine months ahead for the best Miami Beach rooms. Three months out usually still works but means compromising on hotel or location. The first week of December is the highest-demand week in the Miami hotel year.
